Walking to Improve Relationships, Mood & Fitness

Screen time has already been researched and proven to be detrimental to your health when it consumes your life. Many sit behind a screen all day while at work. It also has detrimental effects on your health, specifically before you go to sleep. Getting up and getting moving is any easy way to take a break but also a great way to spend some quality time with your family and peers.

Wither it’s for work or for pleasure, the increased amount of screen time you have typically correlates with decreased health. Getting up and getting moving has MANY benefits to help with your health. Many only think of physical health when this occurs, but our mental and emotional health is directly affected by your exercise regimen and routine. Exercise releases many hormones that directly correlate with your overall mood. So while improving yourself, you are also improving relationships with your spouse, family, and peers when you do this with them.

Instead of coming home from the busy life schedules we all have and sitting in front of the TV, gaming system or mobile device, take 30 minutes a few times a week to go for that post-dinner walk. It may be difficult at first, as you are breaking your normal routine, but just after a few weeks, this will no longer be new. Improvement in your overall mental, emotional, and physical health will begin to happen and you’ll see an improvement in all of your relationships!

Screen time prior to bed is also proven to be bad for your health. Again, the devices produce “blue light” that mimics daylight and causes stimulation, thus making it harder for you to fall asleep. Poor-quality sleep is going to progress over to the next day, making you feel tired, angry and depressed. Try to set your mobile devices down for at least 30 minutes prior to your sleep. This time can now be used to plan your next day’s routine and you’ll find yourself falling asleep and waking up easier!

It’s time to set that phone down and get moving!
