5 Tips to Help Avoid Jet Lag

Fatigue is one of the many debilitating and frustrating factors of travel. When traveling, take some time to allow your body to adjust and feel at your best. Because traveling can be stressful, try these tips to kick start your brain and body and relieve some stress while on the road.

  1. Eat a High-Protein Meal

Eating a meal that is high in protein will help stimulate your mind.
  2. Hydrate

Sitting on the plane can dehydrate you, so drink plenty of water not only while you're in the air, but as soon as you touch down. Also, include an antioxidant complex if possible. If you don't have an antioxidant complex with you, down a glass of green tea.
  3. Get Outside

When you arrive at your hotel, grab some water and go for a walk outside. This will help adjust your body clock.
  4. Wash Your Hands

Wash your hands and avoid touching your face. Millions of people travel each day, which means you are exposed to more illnesses. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport reports 44,006,205 passengers traveled through their airport during 2015 with 440,411 landings and takeoffs.
  5. Self-Massage

Try some self-massage techniques to soothe stiff muscles. Pack a tennis ball in your carry-on bag and lie on the ball when you get to your hotel room, and roll over any sore spots. This might sound silly, but the pressure will relieve tension and knots in your muscles and help increase blood flow.
