Delvin Breaux Sr. is a former cornerback who spent three years in the NFL with his hometown team, the New Orleans Saints. A passionate entrepreneur and an advocate in his local community, Breaux Sr. has used his upbringing, football experience, and post-athletic endeavors to overcome multiple obstacles and inspire others.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Delvin Breaux Sr. played football at McDonogh 35 High School. He experienced his first football adversity during his senior year when, two days after his birthday, Breaux Sr. broke his C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae. The experience put a lot of stress on him and jeopardized his full scholarship to Louisiana State University.

Although he never played a down for LSU, Breaux Sr. refused to quit and eventually wrote an autobiography to describe his challenging journey through life and football.

Breaux Sr. wrote his book, Un-Breaux-Ken: The Story of Delvin Breaux in 2020  during the COVID-19 pandemic. Having left the NFL due to injury, Breaux Sr. felt he needed to be with his two-year-old son and allow people to understand his personal story.

I had to get it out to the world because it was a rough time. We needed some hope... we needed a bigger message... so it was a no-brainer.

Breaux Sr. enjoyed putting his story in writing, spending months with his ghostwriter to detail the many hardships he encountered in the past. He credits his ghostwriter and publisher for a smooth writing process and encourages others to use writing as a healthy form of therapy.

Anybody out there that wants to write a book, go for it… it's very therapeutic. I had a lot of things that happened to me in my past, that I had to get off my chest… working on a book… was awesome.

Breaux Sr.’s biggest support system is his family. Regardless of how rough life gets, his mother and (now) four-year-old son are always there to pick him up. Today, he uses his entrepreneurial endeavors to give back to his son.

“His clothing brand is something we designed on his third birthday. We designed that for him… and I think it's gonna be something that's gonna build a legacy for him forever.”

Following his time with the New Orleans Saints, Breaux Sr. enrolled in The Trust through a referral from a teammate. Breaux Sr.’s experience helped him focus on his health and mental well-being. He now advises former players to take advantage of the benefits.

They assisted me with everything, I'm happy and I'm glad I reached out… You're helping me tremendously and I'm so, so thankful. I can't wait to continue to keep doing my work with you guys.

Today, Breaux Sr. is involved in public speaking and community advocacy work. He is passionate about sharing his message to the world and hopes to give back to youth football players through coaching.

Following years of hardship and personal setbacks, Breaux Sr. now has a big smile on his face. He hopes his story can inspire others to overcome trials in life by allowing others to help.
