The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Brain and Body Program is dedicated to providing world-class, evidence-based medical care to former NFL players in order to help them develop and maintain a healthy brain and body. The Program focuses on diagnosis through personalized evaluation and testing of cognitive, physical, emotional, neuropsychological and functional tasks, as well as medication management, counseling, behavior modification, continuity of care and lifestyle management.
Each player is assigned a neurotrauma rehabilitation specialist who will ensure rapid access to medical care and facilitate communication. The player will also be provided follow-up contact after the initial evaluation, along with copies of the evaluation results and treatment plans. If players wish to include their significant other and/or family members, our team is available to provide education concerning the medical condition(s) that are identified by the evaluations and the treatment(s) that we recommend, as well as family counseling services. The MGH Brain and Body Program Director and Neurotrauma Rehabilitation Specialist provide each player with a pre-visit clinical intake to identify all needed services.
