Khiya comes to The Trust from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where she was a Grants Management Intern. While at NHLBI, she prepared grants for release for funding to researchers and institutions. She was also responsible for training the current and incoming interns.
In December 2023, Khiya graduated from Bowie State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis on Broadcast Journalism.In May 2022, she founded the Her Campus Chapter at Bowie State, a woman run online magazine and social media community that uplifts, informs, and connects college women on topics such as wellness, health, politics, style, pop culture and more. Khiya’s duties included being the Chief Editor of 25 contributors and she was the campus correspondent between the Bowie Chapter and Her Campus Headquarters in Massachusetts.
Under her leadership, she was able to establish partnerships with Fenty Beauty, YSL Beauty, Estee Lauder and Mother Jones Magazine.
Khiya shared that she enjoys sports as a former athlete, journalist, and spectator, as well as traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Khiya also loves giving back to her community individually, alongside her family and as a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
